Essential Job Function:
Under direct supervision, incumbent will assist in the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices systems. Incumbent will develop assembly jigs, fixtures, and customized tooling for the Davis machine tool assembly plant. Incumbent will perform product development activities including drawing board layout, interpretation and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements. Incumbent will provide existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware in production will conduct engineering studies and rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Entry level position that reports directly to Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
• Design, model, and draft parts and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
• Specify bill of materials for machines, communicate with suppliers & order parts as necessary for prototype machines.
• Design assembly jigs, fixtures & tooling for machine tool assembly plant.
• Attend and participate in regular design reviews with team members and management staff to ensure a high-quality design.
• Complete high quality 2D dimensioned drawings for designed parts and releases them for manufacturing in a timely manner.
• Travel when required to check customer machines, support Japan machine assembly and attend design reviews/conferences.
Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree, one (1) year experience in Mechanical Engineering.
• Knowledge of fundamental manufacturing and Mechanical design.
• Basic experience of 3D CAD software.
• Knowledge of machine tools (structure, operation, etc.) is a plus.
